Welcome to The Ship Hotel in Dunwich near Aldeburgh

What could be better after a long coastal walk and a satisfying home-cooked dinner than a great night's sleep in a really comfortable bed, lulled to sleep by the sounds of the sea?

The Ship has ten recently refurbished, comfortable rooms - seven in the inn itself and four in converted barns - all with their own en-suite facilities, and some with marsh and sea views (three are with separate adjoining rooms offering ideal family accommodation).

Some of the bedrooms are newly converted but all maintain the character of The Ship, featuring traditional furniture, including good old-fashioned iron bedsteads with fully sprung mattresses and feather pillows and duvets. In every room you'll also find tea and coffee facilities, televisions and Pecksniff toiletries. There are no phones in the bedrooms, but we do have good mobile signals (we won't let on if you want to pretend otherwise, though!)

With its wide main street and long shingle beach, Aldeburgh is an unspoiled seaside town a short drive from the Ship at Dunwich. Traditional fishing boats still pull up near to the beach huts from which they sell excellent fresh fish. Aldeburgh is also renowned for being a cultural centre, a place of inspiration and energy for music and the arts. Up to 100,000 people a year visit to experience an eclectic range of events which include the famous annual Aldeburgh Music Festival.

Set on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, a short journey from Aldeburgh, The Ship Inn is one of Suffolk’s best loved coastal hotels.
